About Damn Time.

Augusta, Georgia lost its brewery during prohibition, and thirsted for local beer for 95 years. That was a mighty long time for the citizens of The Garden City to not have their own brew. So the Dragonfly landed, and brought Augusta fantastic beer in April of 2016. Since then, Augusta has enjoyed great beer and good times at Riverwatch Brewery.

But all good things must come to an end, and we are announcing that we are closing. It’s been a great time, and we hope you come spend a bit of time with us before we fly off into the sunset. April 19th 2024 (our 8th Anniversary) will be our last day, and we are planning a fantastic party to say farewell and thanks. Come drink with the Dragonfly one last time!

The Lineup.

At the River Watch Brewery, we have three core brews, in addition to limited releases and experimental brews. We hope you come in and try all of what we have to offer and give us your opinions on the experimental brews. Let us know what you want to drink! We’d love to create your next favorite beer.

Blonde Ale

Our Blond is light in color and mouthfeel, but not in taste! It is designed to be a lower-alcohol, refreshing beer with a touch of smooth bitterness. 5.2% ABV. 23 IBU.

Double IPA

A Classic IPA with a phenomenal hop aroma and a balanced bitterness. Centennial, Cascade, Chinook and Crystal Hops give our IPA that great American hop flavor profile, Nelson Sauvin and Zythos bring amazing aromatics to the fore. ABV 7.5%, IBU 75.

Pale Ale

Inspired by the Parkway running alongside the Savannah River, Route 104 leads you to a refreshing and well-balanced American version of an English ESB. It is crisp with a touch of sweetness and goes down easily. ABV 5.5%, IBU 35.

Belgian Tripel

Three Under Par

Amazing fruity aroma of apricots and stone fruit. Starts sweeter with a complex malt profile, finishes clean and crisp leaving you ready for the next sip. 9% ABV (perfect not only for cold winter months). 25 IBU.

Southern Lager

Want a lighter option for the dog days of summer? Firethorn, our light lager, is available on tap.  Smooth, crisp, and light-bodied, it is a crushable refreshing beer. 4.1% ABV

Lazy Paddler

A lower alcohol IPA with all the flavor and juiciness the most determined fan requires. Coming in at 5.5%, this “kayak beer” stars El Dorado, Amarillo, and Idaho 7 hops – a bright American hop aroma, tropical fruit flavor with a light malt backbone.  Paddle your way down the river of happiness! 5.5% ABV 45 IBU.

Red Ale

Queen Maeve

An authentic Irish Red Ale. Queen Maeve is a limited release made for the season surrounding St. Patrick’s Day.  5.2% ABV Available on tap and in cans. And try Queen Maeve’s Revenge! 22 oz bottle with a double strength Maeve aged in whiskey barrels

NPR (Summer Seasonal)

Flavored with fresh lime zest and juice, brewed with a variety of wheat and barley malts and a touch of exotic hops. Very light on the palate, it has a clean and refreshing finish that is balanced by a mild bitterness. ABV 5.4%, IBU 22.

Break out the Lederhosen and Dirndls!  Riverwatch Oktoberfest is a limited release Märzen, brewed in the traditional German way and following German purity laws (Reinheits Gebot).  Smooth, medium-bodied  and malty but finishing dry and refreshing, it is perfect for celebrating the close of the hot Georgia summer!

American Brown Ale

Keep Your Powder Dry

Available in cans.

Our fall seasonal is an American Brown Ale. Chocolate and toffee aroma and flavor, with a nice silky finish. Perfect beer for the changing weather.

The Brewery

Unfortunately, after 8 years of operations, we are closing as of April 20, 2024. First COVID zinged us with news that the Farmers Market was closing, which meant we were going to have to move. Finding a place that could handle 21-foot high equipment was a challenge, so we sold the equipment and planned a new taproom venture. BUT, while Augusta is full of big buildings with the size we would need, it has a nearly non-existent inventory of buildings that don’t need millions of dollars worth of renovation/rehab to even be functional. With no place to move to, we’re calling it a day. Please come say goodbye and grab some soon to be collector’s items merch while you have the chance!
