About Damn Time.

The last brewery in Augusta, Georgia went down during prohibition and never came back. That’s a mighty long time for the citizens of The Garden City to not have their own brew. Well, the wait is over. River Watch is here.

The Lineup.

At the River Watch Brewery, we have four core brews, in addition to limited releases and experimental brews. We hope you come in and try all of what we have to offer and give us your opinions on the experimental brews. If one of them is popular and well received, you may find it on the market before too long.

Blonde Ale

Our Blond is light in color and mouthfeel, but not in taste! It is designed to be a lower-alcohol, refreshing beer with a touch of smooth bitterness. ABV 5.2%, IBU 23.

Pale Ale

Inspired by the Parkway running alongside the Savannah River, Route 104 leads you to a refreshing and well-balanced American version of an English ESB. It is crisp with a touch of sweetness and goes down easily. ABV 5.5%, IBU 35.

A Classic IPA with a phenomenal hop aroma and a balanced bitterness. Centennial, Cascade, and Zythos Hops give our IPA that great American hop flavor profile. ABV 7.5%, IBU 75.

NPR (Summer Seasonal not currently available)

Flavored with fresh lime zest and juice, brewed with a variety of wheat and barley malts and a touch of exotic hops. Very light on the palate, it has a clean and refreshing finish that is balanced by a mild bitterness. ABV 5.4%, IBU 22.

Through the Green

A limited release Vienna Lager, brewed in the traditional German way and following German purity laws (Reinheits Gebot). Smooth, gentle, and elegant, it finishes dry and refreshing, and is perfect for celebrating your success on the course!

American Brown Ale

Keep Your Powder Dry

Not available until Fall 2017.

Our fall seasonal is an American Brown Ale. Chocolate and toffee aroma and flavor. With a nice silky finish. Perfect beer for the changing weather.

Belgian Tripel

Three Under Par

Amazing fruity aroma of apricots and stone fruit. Starts sweeter with a complex malt profile, finishes clean and crisp leaving you ready for the next sip. 9% ABV (perfect for the cold winter months). 25 IBU.

The Brewery

There has been an incredible amount of work put into transforming an old warehouse on the Farmers Market into a small production brewery. Almost the entire interior has changed. From installing a heavy duty floor in the brew house and cellar, putting up interior walls, installing new plumbing and electrical lines, installing a boiler and steam lines to heat the brew house, installing a chiller and glycol lines to keep the fermentors at the proper temperature, to installing CO2 lines to carbonate the beer – this place has definitely had its share of our blood, sweat and tears. We contracted out for the construction, but have done a fair amount of work ourselves, too.

The Brewers

Keep it in the family

Brey Sloan is a retired Army Colonel. She studied brewing technology at the World Brewing Academy (Siebel Institute in Chicago and Doemens Academy in Munich, Germany), earning an International Diploma in Brewing Technology. Brey also apprenticed at the Bayern Meister Bier Brewery in Fujinomiya, Japan. A home brewer for over twenty years before her commercial brewing training, she has enjoyed good beer around the globe.
